On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, the Craft Department warmly welcomed a cooperation visit from Mrs. Rodiah, Head of LSP Batik Indonesia, and her staff. This visit aims to formulate strategic collaborations in competency certification programs for lecturers and students, as well as support the development and strengthening of the Craft Department curriculum.
Based on the official data of LSP Batik Indonesia, the institution has 31 competency schemes specialized in batik. However, through the meeting forum, it was confirmed that there are 18 active schemes that can be accessed for certification implementation, including Batik Motif Designer, Written batik maker, Synthetic Color Dyer, and other fields. LSP Batik Indonesia has also obtained an official license from the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP-LSP-228_ID) through SK KEP.0486/BNSP/II/2024, which is valid until 27 November 2029.
Dr. Sugeng Wardoyo, M.Sn., Head of the Craft Department, welcomed this collaboration with enthusiasm. He expressed his hope that this collaboration can provide formal competency recognition for S1 Craft and D4 DMKB graduates, which is recognized by BNSP, as a credible graduation reinforcement. In addition, competency certification is expected to strengthen the evaluation of the RPS (Semester Learning Plan) so that the preparation of courses is more in line with professional standards. Furthermore, this collaboration is expected to make the Craft Department curriculum more adaptive to the needs of the batik industry, while enriching the profile of graduates as competitive and standardized professionals.
